(book 1 in the Obsidian Academy series)

RATING; Five Stars

Secrets and Shadows is amazing! I loved reading it, I had such a fun time. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want it to end. I love Lillith. She is quirky and feisty, not afraid to speak her mind. The guys, Simon, Vaughn, and Kai are awesome. Vaughn the funny smart-aleck, Simion, the cute teacher's assistant, and Kai (my favorite) silent, observant, and brood. All who would do anything to protect what's theirs make this story even better.

I like Tony, Lillith's best friend at the academy, he seems nice and like he'd be a good person to have in your corner.

I do wish there was more with Lillith and Kai as well as learning more about the characters' shadows and the actual rules about how the world works. I wish that it would have been a bit longer, but I am hoping that the short seemingness of this book in the series is only so that the others can be more fleshed out and take more time to develop throughout the rest of this series.

Other than that, I loved this book. I love how it was funny and easy to read and how it kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters and world-building were spot-on. I couldn't put this book down, and I need book two immediately.

This book is for 18+ readers as this has some content that may not be suitable for some readers.
